Microbiology is a broad discipline of biology with works with the function, structure, uses and existence of microscopic organism. Its also includes many sub-disciplines like virology, mycology, parasitology and bacteriology. Generally, BSc. in Microbiology (Honors) a 4-year course typically taught in a university setting, and can be the focus of an undergraduate, postgraduate or Ph.D. program.
A graduate of Microbiology as Microbiologists can work in the area of food, pharmacy, agro-chemistry, biotechnology, bio-refinery, environment, pollution control and bioremediation. In the field of agriculture, microbiologists act as environmental and health specialists to study the role of microbes in plant disease, pest control, and nutrition and soil fertility. In the field of medicine and health care, the work is usually associated with diagnosis, prevention and treatment of illnesses associated with microbes. Public and private universities and colleges employ microbiologists as researchers and teachers.
